What cosmetic tubes are, and what they aren’t

Searching “cosmetic tubes” returns two different products, so it’s worth being precise.

A squeeze tube is the soft plastic or aluminum tube you press to dispense lotion. It is the primary container, so the formula touches the tube wall directly.

A cosmetic paper tube is a rigid, cylindrical box. It is the packaging around your product, and it is what we make. It holds a bottle, jar, stick, bar or loose item, and it does the branding work: the unboxing, the shelf impression and the protection in transit.

If you need a squeeze tube for the formula itself, that’s a different supplier. If you need the premium outer packaging your product sits in, you’re in the right place.

Why beauty brands choose a tube over a standard box

A round, upright tube is easy to spot on a shelf full of rectangles. It also gives you a continuous printed surface that wraps all the way around, and rigid walls that survive handling better than a folding carton. For creams, serums, fragrance and gift sets, that shape signals quality before the customer opens it.

Built around the product, not the other way round

Most suppliers sell fixed tube sizes and leave you to adapt. We work the other way: send us your bottle, jar or stick dimensions and we size the tube, the insert and the closure to match. The product sits snugly and doesn’t rattle, and it still opens cleanly. This matters most for glass, which is why fit and inserts are part of the spec rather than an add-on.

An honest note on formulas

Paper isn’t a barrier for wet or oily formulas, and we won’t tell you otherwise. For creams, serums, oils and liquids, the product goes in its own jar, bottle or dropper and the paper tube is the outer pack. For dry or solid items such as lip balm in a push-up, deodorant sticks, bath bombs and solid perfume, a paper tube with a suitable liner can work well. Tell us what you’re filling and we’ll say plainly which structure suits it.

1. Are cosmetic paper tubes the same as squeeze tubes?

No. A squeeze tube is the soft container that holds a lotion or cream directly. A cosmetic paper tube is rigid outer packaging that holds a bottle, jar or solid product. Rigid Packaging Pro makes the paper tube type.

2. Can I put cream or lotion directly into a paper tube?

Not recommended. Paper isn’t a barrier for wet or oily formulas. For creams, serums and liquids, put the product in a jar, bottle or dropper and use the paper tube as the outer pack. Dry or solid products, such as lip balm and deodorant sticks, can work in a lined paper tube.

3. How do I choose the right size?

Measure your product’s widest diameter and full height, then add a small allowance for the insert and closure. Send us the product or its dimensions and we’ll set the exact inner size, so there’s no rattle and no forced fit.

4. What is the minimum order and is there a setup fee?

The minimum is 100 units. There are no die or plate charges, so the price is driven by size, material, finish and quantity. Per-piece cost falls as quantity rises.

5. Are cosmetic tubes eco-friendly and recyclable?

They can be. Paper-based tubes with kraft or uncoated wraps and pulp inserts are the easiest to recycle. Foil, heavy lamination and foam inserts can limit recyclability, so tell us your sustainability goal and we’ll choose materials accordingly.
